Fortaleza Reposado – Winter Blend 2020 is a limited-edition annual release produced at Tequila Los Abuelos (NOM 1493) in Tequila, Jalisco. Crafted from mature Blue Weber agave grown in the Tequila Valley (Los Valles), it builds upon Fortaleza’s traditional production methods while incorporating a distinctive barrel program unique to the Winter Blend series. The tequila is produced using traditional stone and brick ovens, tahona extraction, open-air fermentation in wooden tanks (pipones), and double distillation in copper pot stills with deep well water. For the 2020 Winter Blend, carefully selected reposado batches were matured in a combination of American white oak barrels, French oak barrels, and beer casks before being blended and bottled at 46.3% ABV (92.6 proof). Produced without additives and bottled at a higher proof, the result is a rich, layered tequila with notes of cooked agave, vanilla, toasted oak, baking spice, malt, and subtle fruit, while preserving the signature character of traditionally crafted Fortaleza tequila.
